North Vancouver Recreation & Culture (NVRC) is dedicated to building healthy individuals, families, and communities. We offer a wide range of recreation and cultural programs and services to residents of all ages and abilities. We are looking for positive, enthusiastic and friendly individuals to deliver memorable experiences to our customers.


You will be an integral part of our dedicated staff team who continually strive to make a difference in the recreation and cultural lives of North Vancouver residents. NVRC is looking for group music instructors who teach guitar, ukulele, world music, for early years, children and youth. If you teach something not listed here, please share that in your application. Please note that we are hiring music instructors and not music businesses.

You are a team player committed to community. You will plan and instruct developmentally appropriate music classes and dynamic lesson plans. You will be working in a creative environment utilizing your leadership and people skills while maintaining a safe environment to engage students to expand their interest in music. You are an excellent communicator with a positive, energetic and enthusiastic attitude.

  • In-depth knowledge of music
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and supervisory skills
  • Proven ability to create and implement lesson plans
  • Ability to build a rapport with students, parents of students and staff
  • Some knowledge of community recreation principles and practices
  • Ability to be flexible in a dynamic environment


Candidates must have formal music training and 2 years teaching experience. All instructors working with children must have a current Emergency First Aid certificate and HIGH FIVE: Principles of Healthy Child Development training (available online through BCRPA).
Compensation $24.00-$38.00 per hour, based on training & experience
Hours of Work 2-6 hours a week, hours may vary and instructors should be prepared to work days, evenings and/or weekends at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location.
