ABOUT THE JOB

We are currently looking for returning Summer Day Camp Leaders for our various indoor and outdoor camps including programs for school-aged children and youth from June 24 – August 30, 2024. The hours of work will vary according to where you are placed and the registration numbers.

Your ability to prepare and lead a wide range of programs and activities, including sports, arts, leadership workshops, and outdoor adventures, sets you apart. Highly enthusiastic, you excel in motivating and empowering youth. Demonstrating sound judgment and leadership skills, you create detailed lesson plans and camp itineraries, manage camp budgets, and make program bookings. Your capacity to work closely with youth, parents, and facility staff ensures a safe and enriching camp environment.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to organize and provide leadership for youth
  • Experience supervising and mentoring youth or volunteers 
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR Level C certification
  • High Five Certification (available online through BCRPA)
  • Previous volunteer experience working with youth considered an asset
  • Available to attend 2 paid training days – June 22-23, 2024

Preference will be given to candidates with previous experience working with youth in camp, arts, leadership development, or sports settings. Applicants may also be considered for the Camp Leader (Playground Leader I) position 

All candidates must undergo a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position and must be willing to work at any of our facilities, indoors or outdoors.
Compensation Youth Camps will run Tuesday-Thursday weekly throughout the summer (registration dependent) for 8 hours per day. The option to pick up additional hours in other camps on Mondays and Fridays will also be available.
Hours of Work The pay for this unionized position is $26.62 per hour (2024 rates), plus 12% in lieu of benefits.
