Position Overview
North Vancouver Recreation & Culture (NVRC) is dedicated to building healthy individuals, families and communities, offering a wide range of recreation and culture services to all residents. NVRC is innovative, inclusive and dedicated to continuous improvement.

We are seeking an energetic, talented student to join our Communications & Marketing team for summer. This person will produce marketing and promotional content by capturing experiences from our programs and events that showcase our participants, staff, and volunteers.
Responsibilities
Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with our Communications & Marketing team to plan content related to our marketing campaign objectives.
  • Follow a content calendar for publishing scheduled social media posts and plan assignments for creating content, including scheduling for planning, production and publication.
  • Attend NVRC programs and events to produce content using photographs and video, and written copy from interviews held with participants and staff to capture their experiences.
  • Ensure all subjects who are personally identifiable in photos or video to be published complete and return a photo and video release form.
  • Ensure all content produced is suitable for a family audience and aligned with NVRC’s mandate, mission and values.
  • Create and publish content to social media and other digital channels such as NVRC’s website, e-newsletters, Instagram, Facebook, X, YouTube and LinkedIn.
  • Support tasks such as search engine optimization (SEO), email marketing, analytics and marketing research.
Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Enrollment in communications, marketing, public relations or related program at a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Experience creating content for digital and social media through photography, videography, interviewing, and copywriting
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, effectively organize and coordinate activities
  • Knowledge of current digital marketing and social media trends
  • Excellent communication (spoken and written), customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail, flexibility and able to work with a deadline and under pressure
  • Knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Excel)
  • Class 5 Driver’s License and access to a vehicle as there will be travel between locations (mileage will be compensated)

If you are selected to be interviewed, you will be asked to submit the following:

  • Photo and video portfolio
  • Sample social media post (for event, activity or brand)
  • Sample email marketing blast (200 words with headline)

The successful candidate will be required to submit a Police Information Check as a condition of employment.
Compensation The rate of pay for this casual position ranges from $22-25 per hour depending on qualifications, knowledge, experience, and skills
Hours of Work 28-35 hours per week. This position will include some evening and weekend hours  to attend events and programs.
