Position Overview | North Vancouver Recreation & Culture (NVRC) is dedicated to building healthy individuals, families and communities. Responsibilities | GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE You will be delivering excellent customer service experiences by providing personal training, small group training, and weight room supervision to facility users who identify as transgender, gender diverse, and two-spirit and other members of the public. You will promote health and wellness related programs and services and provide advice, guidance and referral services relative to health, fitness and wellness matters. ABOUT YOU You are a courteous and effective team player, committed to community, with considerable knowledge of the needs and interests of the TGD2S community. The successful candidate will demonstrate experience in creating and maintaining a safe, inclusive fitness centre environment for all facility users. You exhibit knowledge of the issues, needs and concerns of the TGD2S community and sound knowledge of the principles, practices, and objectives of fitness and weight training programs specific to this population. You are able to evaluate fitness levels, develop individual weight training and fitness programs and monitor progress of clients. In addition, you are able to identify appropriate ethics and professional boundaries in working with the TGD2S community. |
Requirements | QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS Completion of a university program and related experience providing Fitness Centre services, including experience working with the transgender, gender diverse, or two – spirit community, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Emergency First Aid certification or equivalent and CPR Level A. BCRPA Registered Personal Trainer or approved equivalent. All employees will be available to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location. All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position. |
Compensation | The pay for this unionized position starts at $28.56 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of benefits. |
Hours of Work | This is an auxiliary position with hours assigned based on operational needs. It involving shift work including days, evenings and weekends. |
