Recreation Programmer I - Fitness

The North Vancouver Recreation & Culture Commission is dedicated to building healthy individuals, families and communities. NVRC offers a wide range of recreation and cultural programs and services to residents of all ages and abilities. We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic programmer to primarily support our Fitness Service Area, Outdoor services, and other services as required.

You are passionate about fitness, health, and wellness and have a good understanding of what it takes to deliver exceptional fitness services, both indoors and outdoors, to the public. You will assist with various aspects of programming including planning, implementation, support, and evaluation. You will assist with administration involved in providing fitness services to the public, review and update current practices, assist with staff scheduling as needed, and respond to routine verbal and written inquiries from the public. You will assist with promotion of programs, and work with other staff members to organize events as required. You are a team player, committed to community recreation, courteous and effective with the public, and enjoy working with a diverse group of people.

Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by post-secondary courses on track to obtaining a Recreation Management certificate, diploma or degree, plus related experience. Familiarity with basic Community Recreation Principles and experience in the fitness industry. Certification as a Fitness Instructor or Personal Trainer is an asset.

A valid Class 5 BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle for NVRC business.
