The North Vancouver Recreation & Culture Commission is dedicated to building healthy individuals, families and communities. NVRC offers a wide range of recreation and cultural programs and services to residents of all ages and abilities. We are looking for a positive, enthusiastic Recreation Programmer I to join our team.

Responsibilities
GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE
You will assist with the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of a variety of community-based recreation, social and cultural programs. You may also have responsibility for the planning and implementation of smaller programs under guidance. You will participate in recruiting, training and evaluating instructors; promote interest and participation in programs and provide customer service to patrons and the public.
 
ABOUT YOU
You have sound knowledge of community recreation principles, practices, interests and resources; working knowledge of indoor/outdoor sports, fitness, health & wellness, social activities, crafts, arts and other pursuits related to our programs; the ability to plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and recommend changes to programs; the ability to recruit, train and evaluate instructors; and the ability to prepare and maintain reports and records.
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
 
Completion of Grade 12 supplemented by post-secondary courses on track to obtaining a Recreation Management certificate, diploma or degree, plus related experience.
 
A valid Class 5 BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle for NVRC business.
 
All employees will be available to work at any North Vancouver Recreation & Culture location. All candidates are required to submit a Police Information Check as a requirement of the position prior to any appointment. Comprehensive benefits include dental, extended health, and life insurance coverage, 3 weeks paid annual vacation, opportunity to participate in an earned day off program for an additional 15 days annually, participation in Municipal Pension Plan, and access to an Employee Family Assistance Program. 
Compensation . The pay for this unionized position starts at $28.56 per hour (2021 rates) and has a pay structure with five steps which increase annually.
Hours of Work This is a regular full-time position based on 35 hours work week and involves shift work including days, evenings and weekends based on operational needs.
